He throws a two seam and four seam fastball, changeup and curveball. Don't know the mileage yet. But my best guess is his fastball is about 91.
I went to junior high and high-school with Nick. Played with him in every sport but baseball. And trust me, he's no mean dude. He's just about as down to business as they come. I remember in a 9th grade football civil war he got in the flat, and all 140lbs of him at the time, got laid the hell out, i mean it made the crowd gasp. He hopped up so quick, and tromped back out to call an audible on a fake punt. It was crazy.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('5790','Thomas Lopez','I went to junior high and high-school with Nick.
The fact that the nation can no wait for the Bush failed presidency to end and the fact that Obama's election was historic and add in the hyped we lived it all adds up to the phenomenon of Barack Obama.

Nice synopsis on the season. I didn't get a chance to see many of the games this season. So your recaps gave me some insight into how the Cyclones didn't get into the playoffs. I partcularly liked the names of your awards. The Donna Summer one is my personal favorite.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('1268','Donnalyn Washington','Nice synopsis on the season.
It's great to see Hector getting some long overdue credit. The way he has consistently coached his pitchers to deliver often dominating seasons on the mound is amazing. That the Cyclones could be playing nearly .600 ball with such little team hitting, power or speed is testimony to how important his success with the pitching staff is! I called down to him in the bullpen the week after the Mets let Rick Peterson go and told him he should have been called up to handle the Mets's staff! I still believe the guy is too damned good for this league, and deserves to move up the organizational ladder along with the pitchers he's tutored. As much as I'd hate to see him leave Brooklyn, Hector should be a major league pitching coach someday, and soon!
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('809','Sammy Cyclones','It\'s great to see Hector getting some long overdue credit.
I know exactly how "Oisk" feels. I too returned to the borough after 44 years of absence to attend the debut home opener of the Cyclones on June 25, 2001. I was there at Ebbets Field, as an 8-year old kid, when Jackie Robinson took up his position at first base to break the color barrier on April 15, 1947. I was in the Polo Grounds on that sad day in 1951 when the Giants broke our hearts by winning the pennant. I was there when the Dodgers won their first World Series in 1955. And I left the borough about six months ahead of the Dodgers.
But, upon my brief return in 2001, I was amazed at how well maintained Bay Ridge still was and how well they did on renovating those tenements I once lived in when the neighborhood was still called South Brooklyn and not Cobble Hill.
My only hope is to see Brooklyn move up in classification to Double A or Triple A. A position which will match the largest minor league market in the country.
<a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('615','John E.
I've know Matt since he was in college. Hands down, Matt is the single hardest worker that I have ever been around. His respect for not only the game but those associated with it truly show his passion, desire and love for it.
Pat,

I just want to say how much I enjoy your Web site! It's so polished and professional, and it really keeps Cyclones fans fully informed about Brooklyn's comings and goings. Thanks for putting in the effort!

By the way, any way of finding out what the heck happened to Angel Pagan??? I know he's on the DL with a shoulder injury, but it wasn't supposed to be a big deal. He's just disappeared, and there isn't a word about him in the mainstream sports media or the Mets broadcasts!

Thanks again!

I'm Tobi's Dad!! It's great to see that someone can possibly see the potential of an athlete who gives 100% / 100% of the time. Tobi is the kind of guy who will not take defeat lying down. He will work continuously to improve on his game until he betters himself and the team he is on. He is a team player, always was. I feel after this 2008 season that you will see great improvements of Tobi's work ethic and where it can potentially take him. Tobi was always a two positioned player and never concentrated just on pitching. Now that he does, (which may take a little longer compared to most) he will be a major threat with his arsenol. When it gets tough out there and it comes down to it, Tobi is the one that says give me the ball. He was always like that growing up, loving pressure situations. As you can see, as a dad, I'm very proud of what my son has accomplished and I'm sure as time goes on I will not be the only proud fan. Go Tob!!!!
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('178','Neal Stoner','I\'m Tobi\'s Dad!!
Very nice interview Patrick.
I like hearing from and about the players like Gee, Antonini, etc. that come into the organization with little known about them, keep it up!

Also, noticed you seem to sell a lot of your articles to other sites (scout, etc.), really glad I found this site so I can get them here first.
Reply - Quote

He was traded for a second round pick from the Astros in 2005. Josh actually was happy to get a new start where he can show what he has to offer.

That was a very nice article,

Welcome Patrick,
My wife Debbie, and I have been season ticket holders from day one. We started behind the visitors dugout to razz the opposing players, but then got two other relatives and needed 4 seats (in section 2 right behind the plate) where we've been forseveral years now. You are right in enjoying summers at Coney Island, Brooklyn, it's the BEST! Thanks for starting Blog. Hope to look in often.
